The Landig side mounted chiller unit fits through the wall of your cold room, delivering consistent cooling across the full internal volume using LaPlus forced air circulation. Built in Germany from stainless steel, it’s designed for commercial and serious private use – butchers, game processors, cheesemakers, charcutiers, wine storers, brewers, florists and farm shop operators all use this unit.
Three power classes let you match the unit to your cold room size rather than paying for more cooling than you need.
Choose your model
LS 700 – 700W cooling capacity. Cold rooms up to 8m³. Typical use: home or estate game larder, small farm shop cold room, boutique cheese or charcuterie space, private wine cellar.
LS 1100 – 1100W cooling capacity. Cold rooms up to 12m³. Typical use: small butcher shop, mid-sized farm shop, craft brewery cold store, flower storage room.
LS 2000 – 2000W cooling capacity. Cold rooms up to 23m³. Typical use: commercial butchery, estate game larder with high throughput, cheese maturing room, commercial wine storage, full-scale brewery cold store.
Performance figures assume an ambient (room outside the cold room) temperature of +25°C. Higher ambient temperatures reduce capacity – size up if in doubt.
What you can store
The electronic temperature control runs between 0°C and +15°C as standard, or -5°C to +15°C on request. That covers virtually every chilled storage job in UK food, drink and floristry:
- Game and venison – 2-4°C for controlled hanging and ageing
- Butchery and fresh meat – 2-4°C for beef, lamb, pork, poultry
- Charcuterie and cured meats – 8-15°C depending on stage
- Cheese maturing – 8-14°C depending on style
- Wine storage – 10-14°C, stable and gentle
- Craft beer and brewery cold store – 1-6°C for lagering, cold crashing, kegs
- Flowers – 2-5°C with steady air movement
- Farm shop mixed chilled goods – 2-5°C
Key features
- Energy-efficient R290 refrigerant – over 50% energy saving vs previous Landig models, natural propane refrigerant with very low global warming potential
- Evaporator-free interior – the evaporator sits in the housing, not inside the cold room, giving you more usable space per m³
- LaPlus circulating air cooling – even cold distribution, no hot spots, no cold spots
- Stainless steel housing – hygienic, corrosion-resistant, commercial-grade
- Electronic temperature control – precise to the degree
- Fully automatic condensation evaporation – no drip trays to empty, no manual defrost
- Maintenance-free – no scheduled servicing costs
- Plug-in design – pre-charged with refrigerant, seals against its own gasket, no brackets needed
- Made in Germany – manufactured by Landig, over 40 years of refrigeration engineering
- 2-year manufacturer warranty

A note on electronics placement: In the “right” variant (e.g. LS 700 right), the electronics sit on the left side of the unit. In the “left” variant they sit on the right. On the LS 2000, electronics sit on the front.
Before you order – structural requirements
Make sure your cold room meets all of these:
- Fully insulated – floor, walls and ceiling – minimum 8cm sandwich panels
- Wall thickness at the cut-out point: 200mm maximum
- Professional insulated cold room door fitted
- Room volume within the chosen model’s rated capacity
If you’re building the cold room from scratch, see our self-assembly larder kits, or the ceiling mounted version if wall space is limited.
Installation, warranty and UK support
The unit arrives pre-charged with refrigerant. Once the wall cut-out is prepared to the correct size, the unit slides in, seals against its circumferential gasket, and is ready to plug into 230V power. No refrigeration engineer is needed for installation.
- 2-year manufacturer warranty from date of purchase
- UK advice and support from Tarrant Refrigeration – we’ve specified and supplied these units into cold rooms across the UK
- Manufacturer service network across the EU if service is ever needed

Frequently asked questions about side mounted chiller units
Which model do I need for a cold room of X m³?
Up to 8m³ – LS 700. Up to 12m³ – LS 1100. Up to 23m³ – LS 2000. If your ambient room temperature runs hot (commercial kitchens, plant rooms) size up to the next model.
Can I install this myself?
The unit itself is plug-in. You’ll need a builder or joiner to cut the wall opening to the correct size. No refrigeration engineer, no gas work.
Will it cool a cold room that isn’t fully insulated?
No. The capacity figures assume a fully insulated cold room (floor, walls, ceiling) with a proper cold room door. Without that, the unit will run constantly and fail to hold temperature.
What’s the running cost?
R290 and the energy-efficient design keep running costs low. Exact consumption depends on your cold room size, ambient temperature and set point – contact us for a rough estimate based on your setup.
Side mounted or ceiling mounted – how do I choose?
Side mounted is the simpler, more common install and works for most builds. Choose ceiling mounted if your cold room is accessed from multiple sides, if wall space is tight, or if you want the unit out of sight (retail cheese rooms, farm shops, wine cellars).
