The Landig ceiling mounted chiller unit installs into the ceiling of your cold room, leaving all four walls clear for shelving, rails, racking, or display. Same LaPlus circulating air cooling and same three power classes as the side mounted range – but with a footprint that sits above head height and out of the way.
Commonly chosen for:
- Butchery rooms with rails on multiple walls
- Cheese maturing rooms and cheese caves where aesthetics and hygiene matter
- Wine cellars and retail wine storage
- Farm shops with visible cold rooms
- Compact cold rooms where wall space is already spoken for
Choose your model
LD 700 – 700W cooling capacity. Cold rooms up to 8m³. Typical use: small cheese cave, boutique charcuterie room, private wine cellar, estate game larder.
LD 1100 – 1100W cooling capacity. Cold rooms up to 12m³. Typical use: butcher shop with rails on multiple walls, farm shop cold room, small brewery cold store, florist cold room.

Before you order – structural requirements
Your cold room must meet these conditions:
- Fully insulated – floor, walls and ceiling – minimum 8cm sandwich panels
- Ceiling thickness at the cut-out point: 250mm maximum
- Professional insulated cold room door fitted
- Adequate space above the ceiling for the unit to sit (check unit height against your roof/plant void)
- Room volume within the chosen model’s rated capacity
Building the cold room from scratch? See our [LINK: /product-category/cold-room/] self-assembly larder kits, or the side mounted version if ceiling access above the cold room is limited.
Installation, warranty and UK support
Pre-charged with refrigerant and ready to drop in. Your builder or joiner cuts the ceiling opening to the correct size, the unit seats into the opening, and the gasket seals it against the cold room ceiling. Plug into 230V and run.
- 2-year manufacturer warranty from date of purchase
- UK support from Tarrant Refrigeration
- Landig manufacturer service network available

Frequently asked questions about ceiling mounted chiller units
Why choose ceiling mounted over side mounted?
Three reasons: wall space, access, and aesthetics. If your cold room has hanging rails or shelving on every wall, side mounting isn’t an option. If the room is accessed from multiple sides, a ceiling unit keeps both entrances unblocked. And in retail or customer-facing cold rooms – cheese caves, wine cellars, farm shops – the ceiling mount looks cleaner.
What sits above the unit?
The cooling unit body sits above your cold room ceiling, in a plant void, roof space, or next room. You need clearance above for the unit height (300-400mm depending on model) and for service access.
Can I fit this to a cold room with no roof space above?
If there’s no void above the ceiling, ceiling mount won’t work – you’ll need the side mounted version instead.
Is the installation much harder than side mounted?
No. The work is the same – cut opening, drop unit in, plug in power. The only extra is ensuring the ceiling structure can support the unit weight and that there’s service access from above.
Do I need a refrigeration engineer?
No. The unit is plug-in and pre-charged. A builder or joiner handles the cut-out; no gas work is required.
